Challenges are what makes life interesting
Im originally from Melbourne, where I was a residential builder for 12 years. Having this trade enabled me to travel the world and for several years, I lived and worked around Europe, Canada and Japan. Returning to Australia from Japan, I settled in Port Douglas and bought a floating restaurant. It was a fantastic business, enjoyable work and very successful until disaster struck; the boat sank! Faced with huge costs to rebuild, the dilemma was whether to go ahead. By sheer coincidence, the surveyors wife was in real estate and suggested I consider a new career, which is when I moved into real estate. Its interesting how challenging circumstances can fortuitously lead you in the direction you were meant to go. I loved the industry immediately and after several years in other agencies, opened Coldwell Banker Barrier Reef Realty with my partners in 2005. With two offices and a third opening shortly, I believe its the diversity of personalities in our partnership that has enabled the agency to flourish; we all contribute different strengths and depth of experience.

With my background in building, its blatantly obvious when problems are evident, or a developer is out to make a quick buck. Inferiority should never be acceptable. Recommending and supporting only excellence yields results.

I like to keep people motivated as I know when Im motivated, it enhances enthusiasm. Co-workers appreciate being appreciated. We promote a happy work environment by remembering birthdays and presenting quarterly awards and I think this is then reflected in the service we provide.
